The EATC mission, “To lead collaborative investment, marketing and diversification efforts for Eastern Alberta” includes assisting its member communities to improve their capacity to attract, retain and expand Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). As we continue to increase this capacity, there are many FDI success stories already in the EATC region. Here are just a few examples:

EATC Northern Region

  • Archie Daniels Midland Company: operates a canola crushing facility in Lloydminster
  • Nutrien Ag Solutions: the U.S. based provider of crop inputs, services and solutions has two locations in the region
  • Peraton: the U.S. based avionics provider operates a location at 4 Wing Cold Lake

EATC Southern Region

  • JBS Canada: Canadian division of JBS, a leading meat processor with a beef processing plant located in Newell County
  • QinetiQ: world-leading provider of unmanned air, land, and surface targets for live-fire training and weapons system test and evaluation
  • Cancarb: thermal carbon black manufacturer owned by Japan’s Tokai Carbon Group

In various FDI projects over the past ten years, EATC is grateful for the support of one of the many tools deployed by the Government of Canada to increase prosperity: the CanExport Community Investments program. CECI provides financial support to communities for their FDI initiatives and activities. The program provides support to Canadian communities seeking to improve their capacity to attract, retain and expand FDI in order to create jobs for Canadians, support innovation and increase exports.
